You can’t sell online without good product shots and working on a limited budget can produce some roadblocks. One roadblock? Well, there are two actually, I am not a photographer and it isn’t in the budget, but, with a good camera and model capturing some lifestyle images should be easy… right?

I love working with customers like this cuddly Ori Pei and her just-as-lovely owner Nicole. Miss P. is adorable in every way but she was definitely one of the harder dogs I have ever had to fit being that an Ori Pei is a Sha Pei / Pug mix! Shorter in length than standard dog sizes (if there really are "standard" dog sizes :P) and broader up front with a tiny waist made this an interesting doggy rain coat to get right.

It is no doubt this winter was a trying one. Especially for the Northeast and the Boston area. We really had no idea what we were getting into as we watched the colorful leaves of the season drop into great piles on our lawns.

As I write this a landscaper outside at my neighbors house is rattling my brain with a leaf blower that heralds the return of spring and the clean up that comes from a long winter. Of course there are many other signs of spring going on other than landscapers but, there are also still some signs of winter.
The Stuff Dog Dreams are Made of

You know when you see your dog lying on his favorite bed or his blanky, maybe even the couch if you allow that and he's whimpering a little, nose going, legs moving?
Yeah, he's dreaming about running through the woods. And no, he's not running after a squeaky toy, or on a jog through the neighborhood with you, not even about chasing the bunny through the back yard... well, maybe he's dreaming about chasing the bunny through the backyard... It is a wild, untethered, tongue wagging run through the woods. Yup, no cars, no one telling you "no", or "stay" or "leave it"! Nope, nothing like that.
It steals the warmth from your fingertips, the cold does.
Slowing down ponds, streams, rivers and lakes, freezing
them solid into suspended states until spring.
The woods sound different too, louder but more silent.
Trees rub together in the cold wind making a squeaking noise
that one never hears in summer. Sometimes their branches crack and pop as if
they suffer some type of arthritis as the cold has stolen the warmth from their
“fingertips” too.

I LOVE to sew for my clients, for one they never turn around to ask “Does this make me look fat?”. When you are sewing for the furry, four legged crowd it doesn’t matter how cute or good a piece looks it still really has to be utilitarian, no other reason in my eyes to dress a dog… really.
The Great Blue Heron Sticks out the Winter

On one of my usual dog walks through the woods I had noticed this summer that the pond we walk around had been stalked by a Great Blue. This large beautiful bird was enjoying the work of another recent visitor, a beaver, that had flooded the areas around the pond creating perfect wading areas. In the spring this pond comes alive with an abundance of frogs which I image make for great meals all through summer.

Since trench coats were originally designed as military garments and became popular in World War One epaulets were designed to carry various military gear or to attach rank insignia. |

Fall is subtly awakening as Summer quietly goes to sleep. Without fanfare it shows up, with its chills, its vibrant colors, its crispness of sound and light. It sneaks in like a thief stealing the daylight, shortening our days and lengthening the night.

I’d love to have a weed-free garden full of gorgeous blooming plants but I am not particularly good at planting in the right spots or envisioning the space with the right ones.
I have been known to plant something in the wrong spot and then move it around the next season as if it were a sofa in the living room pushed to the other side of the room, however, the sofa always makes it, the plant doesn’t always survive the violation of being dug up or the insult of its eviction.

Once you see this video it's amazing anything escapes a Peregrine.
With speeds of up to 200 mph and an all time recorded speed of 242 mph (National Geographic) this is a bullet of a bird.
